About

This award-winning Australia–Taiwan Indigenous Art Exchange is a landmark initiative that fosters sustained dialogue, creative collaboration, and deepens mutual understanding between Australia and Taiwan, and within our broader region.

The program strengthens people-to-people connections while creating opportunities for research, knowledge exchange, and artistic collaboration among Indigenous artists, as well as curators, scholars, cultural institutions and universities, and the wider arts and Indigenous communities in Australia, Taiwan, Aotearoa (New Zealand), and Asia.

It also seeks to recognise and empower First Nations artists, while promoting broader understanding and appreciation of Indigenous knowledge, culture, and artistic excellence internationally.

Launched in 2021, the exchange comprises a program of activities delivered each year. These include:

• an international symposium (2021);
• publication (2022);
• field trips (2023);
• artist residencies (2024);
• a documentary feature film (2025); and
• touring exhibition (2027-).
